Christopher Vidal is an award-winning, contemporary realist artist based in Australia. His distinctive paintings, which include both landscapes and still life, are recognizable representations of reality. Through his work, Vidal aims to share his experience with viewers, fostering a connection not only with the subject matter, but with the natural world.
Born in Malta, Vidal's interest in art began in childhood. He attended the School of Arts at Palazzo de La Salle in Malta for three years in the mid-1980s. After completing his academic studies, Vidal worked as a scientist and medical researcher in Malta and Australia for 25 years before dedicating himself to art full-time.
While Vidal enjoys painting a variety of subjects in diverse media, he is particularly drawn to landscape painting in oil or acrylic. He finds that landscape work allows him to blend his love of science, the environment, and the arts. Painting the landscape connects Vidal to nature, and his skill continues to develop through his direct observation and interpretation of the world around him.
Through his artwork, Vidal hopes to convey a message about the beauty and value of the natural world. He shares his own travel experiences, inviting viewers to appreciate the splendor of the planet and the significance of our brief time upon it. Vidal believes we must act responsibly as stewards of the environment, preserving it for future generations.
In addition to his painting practice, Vidal is also an art tutor, teaching drawing and painting to both adults and children around Sydney. His works are held in private and corporate collections internationally.
