I'm Ali, a digital artist based in Hyderabad, India. I usually go by my artist's name, Dragoon. I like painting, reading, listening to music, riding a bicycle, and studying languages. I’m primarily self-taught and started my journey with digital art when I joined online artist boards around 2014. My work gradually transformed as I worked with fellow artists in online art collectives such as the Cosmosys and the Luminarium. They’ve both merged and formed Team Aurora (projectaurora.art). In my early large-scale work around 2016, I mostly made vector art using the 'pentool' in Adobe Photoshop. However, going beyond just vector, it also incorporated brushwork and other effects, which made it a sort of eclecticism between vector and painting. The core idea of my work during this time was to illustrate the energy of my subjects using shapes and forms and create a surreal, mystical impression which in turn brings out the energy in the viewer and allows their imagination to flow.

From 2018 onwards, I almost entirely from vector to painting using a pen tablet. I’ve been focusing on a more extensive variety of themes since. I paint imaginary or surreal natural environments inspired by real life, sometimes with animals; scenes based on my own life experiences; game and novel-based scenes/characters such as Kvothe from Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicle or Huckleberry Finn from Mark Twain’s work. Through my current themes, I intend to provide an opening to a world different from everyday life, one which would make one want to dive in for an adventure or a moment of relaxation – with an imagination that builds upon and goes beyond what we see in daily life.
