My name is Behnaz Darabi. I have been living in Louisiana, U.S., since 2021, and I am
currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at Louisiana Tech University since the
Spring of 2024. I hold a bachelor's degree in architecture from Iran.
While studying for my bachelor's degree in architecture, I developed various skills such as design, sketching, and artistic rendering, which have been beneficial in enhancing my creativity, knowledge of aesthetics, dexterity, and understanding of color theory.
My journey with oil painting began at the age of 12 when I created five oil paintings
featuring landscapes and flowers during a summer break. This early experience revealed
my talent and passion for painting. Although I didn't have much time to pursue art
seriously for many years, I painted occasionally whenever I had the opportunity.
In 2021, after moving to the U.S., I dedicated myself to refining my painting skills, focusing on brush techniques and meticulous attention to detail. This period marked a significant turning point in my artistic development. My professional career as an artist truly commenced in the Spring of 2024, when I began my MFA program at Louisiana Tech University.
My work aims to raise awareness about the injustices faced by women, celebrate their
resilience and strength and contribute to a global movement that supports women's rights and empowers them to live freely and authentically.
