My Name is Kimberly A. C. Franklin, and I am one of the photographers at Kimi Franklin Studio. I have the pleasure of working alongside my husband who is the other photographer. We started this business when our daughter was born. We wanted to document her growth, and it kind of spiraled from there. Since then we have had the pleasure of capturing other's timeless moments as well. Photography has always been a HUGE interest of mine. I have always enjoyed being able to "freeze time". It wasn't until a few years ago, that I learned how to use editing to enhance my photography. I found it very therapeutic, so now I mostly shoot to edit. Our photography has also changed, and will continue to change as our daughter grows. It makes sense after all, because a 15 year old does not see the world the same way that a 5 year old does, and we intend to capture that along the way. I do not excel at verbal communication, so I learned to use photography to express my emotions, or just to create something I think is beautiful. When I create something, I don't really have a set audience in mind, I do it for myself. What I like, or I take a suggestion from my hubby. We are very blessed that other people have been able to appreciate, our artistry.
We both grew up a very small town in south Texas called Dilley. It's right smack dab between San Antonio, and Laredo. Not much goes on here, and as much as we love this town, it doesn't really have a-lot of "photogenic" places. I kind of credit this town for challenging me to see things differently. I learned to find beauty in the mundane, and because of that I have had the opportunities to be featured in a few magazines over the past month. I hope to keep going, and eventually be featured in Vogue or Vanity Fair, or maybe start our own magazine in the near future!
