Painter Joseph Ryan DeRuy

I was born in New Mexico, U.S.A. I spent my childhood in Kenya, Africa. I carry that adventurous spirt I gained in Africa with me and keep it alive, while traveling the United States for with work. Acquiring commissions, setting installations, and visiting museums globally along the way.

As a full time artist, I hope to balance a juxtaposition of inspiring contributions of art for the community and telling my personal story. Using the human experience as the common denominator. I’m inspired by unity in human interests and responsible stewardship of our fragile planet.

I currently Iive in Los Angeles, spending time sprightly wandering the Los Angeles vicinity and soaking in the natural surroundings, diversity, culture, environment, and vibes. I do this with the purpose of mirroring the commonality, joy, unity, and fun one can have when we pop out of our personal and private inner bubble.
