I am John Battalgazi, a British digital artist living in Tokyo. I started using digital tools seriously around 5 years ago. Up to then I was into photorealistic pencil portraits mainly as a hobby. I created a drawing course on Udemy which has hundreds of students although now I focus only on digital drawing.
My style is very geometric with striking colour schemes and interesting compositions. I have been developing it for a while and I feel it is maturing and has become my signature style. I am currently focusing on sports illustrations because I feel most sport related art is quite generic and I want to introduce something different to the genre. When I was a kid I honed my drawing skills by copying the poses of my favourite players on my baseball cards so it is as though things have come full circle.
